Aside from easy access to downtown Houston, this unincorporated community in Harris County has the right amount of old heritage character, reputable schools, and plenty of recreational opportunities.

The last ten years have been significant in the history of Cypress, as it fueled massive growth in the community. Despite the modernization, Cypress has still retained its small-town charm with its collection of older homes, historic sites, and outdoor areas.

As of 2010 estimates, Cypress is home to approximately 120,000 residents. The community is consistently ranked as one of the highest-income areas in the country. Highways 99 and 290 are conveniently located nearby, ready to take you to surrounding areas.

The most attractive neighborhoods in Cypress include Coles Crossing, Black Horse Ranch, Towne Lake, Bridgeland, Lakes of Fairhaven, Northlake Forest, Cypress Creek Lakes, and Fairfield.

Schools

Public schools in Cypress are overseen by the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, ranked as the third largest school district in Texas with an estimated population of roughly 700,000. Schools managed by the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD include Cypress Ridge High, Cy-Fair High, Cypress Creek High, Langham Creek High, and Jersey Village High. High school sports are a big event in Cypress, bringing together friends and families to cheer for their school team.

Several private schools are also located in and around Cypress, such as Cypress Christian School, Covenant Academy, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School. As for institutions of higher learning, Cypress is home to the Cy-Fair campus of Lone Star College.

Entertainment and recreation

  • Tin Hall – The choice venue for special events since the late 19th century, Tin Hall is billed as the oldest reception hall in not just Cypress, but in Texas. Unfortunately, Tin Hall was recently closed down. Although it’s not a designated historical landmark, Tin Hall has a special place among the locals’ hearts. You’re still free to visit the building located in Tin Hall Road.
  • Cypress golf courses – Cypress is home to a number of golf courses where you can enjoy a great tee time with friends and family. These golf courses are Longwood Golf Club, Houston National Golf Club, Cypress Lakes Golf Club, and BlackHorse Golf Club.
